Nikki

Hi!

My name is Nikki and I am 13 years old.  I was born deaf but I do not consider myself handi-capped. I belong to a wonderful and unique culture that has a language of its very own. That language is American Sign Language and like any other natural language, ASL has its very own structure.  Just like a spoken language is expressed with a combination of sounds, ASL is expressed with combinations of hand- shapes, palm orientation, movements of the hands, arms and body, and facial expressions.  It is a very beautiful language and a fun way to communicate.
