Signing With Nikki

The purpose of this website is to introduce people to the wonderful world of "sign".  Did you know that American Sign Language (ASL) is estimated to be the fourth most commonly used language in the U.S.?

ASL is a manual language which means that information isn't spoken aloud with sounds.  Instead, information is communicated by using handshapes, movements of the hands, arms and body, and facial expressions.

I have had many people ask me about ways to learn how to sign so I decided to develop this website (with the help of my mom and grandparents) and to produce some CD's and videos for you and your children to watch and learn from. 

Check out my products.  I currently have a CDROM out on "Teaching Your Baby to Sign".  I am also putting together some DVD's covering some of the earlier childrens Rhymes and Fairytales in sign language (my mom has agreed do the voice-overs and to do some of the signing too!).  It is a wonderful way for you to interact with your baby and to continue their sign throughout their childhood.  Currently I have "Goldilocks and The Three Bears" and "The Three Little Pigs". You can find them on ebay.

I will be adding links to helpful sites and publishing a newsletter for current news.  What better way to spend time with your child and to learn new things together?  There is a whole community of people out here to sign to and we really appreciate it when people take the time to learn our language.
